Meet Lesley

Lesley Lasker, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, (MFC53018) and a Parent Education Specialist. I work collaboratively with my clients helping them to navigate the challenges of relationships, parenthood, career, and life transitions. My first priority is to provide you with a safe, non-judgmental environment in which you can explore difficult issues and feel supported in a manner that creates trust and promotes growth.

In my work with Couples and Families, I use a Family Systems approach as well as the advanced training I have received in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is an empirically validated approach to working with couples.

In addition to seeing clients in the private practice setting, I am also a Parenting Specialist, trained by Jackie Rosenberg of “Babies First Class”. For my 11 years at “Babies First Class”, I taught a series of continuing education classes for parents with 2-5 year old children. In these monthly classes we explored the unique concerns and challenges of raising a growing family.

I am also a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), the Phillips Graduate Institute Alumni Association, International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and the Los Angeles Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (LACEFT).

In addition to my Private Practice and Parenting Classes, I have served in the following positions:
– Supervisor in Private Practice
– Intern Supervisor at The Maple Counseling Center
– Adjunct Faculty Member at Philips Graduate Institute
– School Therapist at Carpenter Community Charter School

I earned my Masters Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from the Phillips Graduate Institute where I graduated with honors. While at PGI, I received specialized training in Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence and Child Development.

I understand that entering into the therapeutic relationship can be difficult and even anxiety provoking. With that in mind, I take great care to get to know you in a respectful, curious way that will allow you to feel safe exploring the challenges you are faced with.
